Phenobarbital

Phenobarbital is used to treat epilepsy in dogs. It is an anticonvulsant that works by slowing down nerve impulses and can also be used to treat insomnia. Phenobarbital may cause drowsiness, so it should not be given around bedtime. It can also cause lethargy and depression in some animals, which could lead to a decrease in appetite. For this reason, it’s important that you monitor your dog’s eating habits while taking phenobarbital.
