Antibiotics

Antibiotics are medications that treat bacterial infections. They can be taken orally (by mouth) or intravenously (through a needle). Antibiotics work by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause infection. Antibiotics do not cure viral infections such as colds or flu, nor do they treat fungal infections.

Natural Antibiotics for Dogs

Natural antibiotics for dogs are becoming increasingly popular, as many people are looking for more natural ways to treat their dogs.

Natural antibiotics for dogs can be particularly useful for pets with recurring infections or those who have been given a prescription by their veterinarian and don’t want to use it.

There are many different herbs and essential oils that can be used to treat your dog’s illness. Some of these are better than others and some may even cause harm if used incorrectly. It is important to consult your veterinarian before using any of the following herbs, essential oils, or supplements.

Examples of Natural Antibiotics

Eucalyptus – eucalyptus can be applied directly to the skin, inhaled, or taken internally (in water). It has been shown to be effective against many types of bacteria including strep throat, pneumonia, sinusitis, and upper respiratory tract infections.

Tea tree oil – tea tree oil has been shown to have antibacterial properties that can fight off both internal and external infections such as ringworm, eczema, ear mites, and upper respiratory tract infections.
