If you’re a dog lover, you may be wondering how to make a dog cancer research donation. Whether you’ve lost a pet to cancer or have seen a friend struggle through it, you know how devastating the disease can be.
As dog lovers ourselves, we have all had to deal with that reality firsthand. The good news is that there are many organizations out there devoted to providing research and treatment for cancer in pets—and they could use your help.
To Our Fellow Dog Lovers
If you’re reading this, chances are you love dogs. And if you love dogs, chances are that you’ve lost one to cancer.

How many times have we all said to our pets, “I’m so glad we got to spend time together!”? And then we find out that they’re gone, and it feels like a piece of our heart has been ripped out with them.
Many of us have lost a dog—or multiple dogs—to cancer. And while there’s no way to bring back the dog we’ve lost, there is something we can do to make sure that no other dog has to experience the same pain and suffering.
We can donate money to research being done on canine cancer, so that one day soon, our furry friends will be able to live long lives without fear of getting sick or dying from this horrible disease.
Dog Cancer Research Donation
Here are four organizations you should consider donating to today:
National Canine Cancer Foundation
The National Canine Cancer Foundation (NCCF) is a non-profit organization that funds research to fight the disease and provides support to families with cancer-stricken dogs. They also have a program called the Puppy Promise, which helps provide financial assistance for veterinary costs associated with treating cancer in puppies.
If you want to help fund cancer research and make an impact on canine health, then donating money or supplies would be a great way of contributing your efforts.
2 Million Dogs
2 Million Dogs is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding cancer research. Their mission is to advance the understanding of cancer in dogs and support their families during difficult times, while also promoting education and awareness.
2 Million Dogs has funded several projects over the last few years including:
- The University of Pennsylvania’s study on multiple myeloma in dogs
- Mayo Clinic’s study on lung cancer in dogs
- More than $1 million towards research at the University of Minnesota Veterinary School that includes both canine lymphoma and bone sarcoma studies
Pets and People
Pets and People is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to low income families who have pets with cancer. This charity is focused on helping people and their pets, which makes them a great choice for those looking for an organization to donate to.
Drake Dog Cancer Foundation
Drake Dog Cancer Foundation’s mission is to provide options for preventative measures to reduce cancer risk. We are not yet non-profit, but it’s a work in progress! Together, we perform the following:
- Blog writing and research regarding all aspects of cancer both preventative and treatment-related
- Outreach to other canine cancer organizations for partnership opportunities to better serve dog lovers for free or low cost
- Educational resources for those looking to prevent cancer or searching for holistic options to add to their treatment regimen with Drake Dog Cancer Academy.
We are continuously working on incorporating additional services for you, the dog lover, and look forward to helping you on this journey!
Small Donations Make a Huge Difference
Cancer is the number one killer of dogs in the United States. It’s also a huge problem for humans, too! So we decided to create Drake Dog Cancer Foundation, which helps fund research into dog cancer. We’re passionate about making sure dogs have access to the best treatments possible so that no dog has to suffer from this horrible disease.
Every gift counts. Every dollar helps the organization of your choice get closer to saving more lives. Please consider making a donation today, so that we can continue our work and help more dogs live longer, happier lives.
